This is the imagery of his parents. This details are the little vague images of what Winston still has in his mind.

“elm trees were swaying very faintly in the breeze, their leaves justing stirring in dense masses like women’s hair…slow-moving stream where dace were swimming in the pools under the willow trees” (30) (Imagery, Simile, Personification, Flashback). This is imagery of scenery that Winston envision of his flashback with his mother and sister.He describes the trees like human (swaying…women hair).
“It emptied his lungs so completely…breathing again by lying on his back and taking a series of deep gasps…his veins had swelled with the effort of the cough, and the varicose ulcer had started itching.” (31) (Imagery, Hyperbole and or Metaphor). This shows how Winston was feeling, almost taking his last breathe. It shows how hard he was breathing and begging his nose to taking as much oxygen as possible.
“mechanically shot his arms back and forth, wearing on his face the look of grim enjoyment.” (32) (imagery,metaphor) . Winston wasn’t literally wearing a another face, it show he was forcing himself to look like he’s is enjoying the morning exercise.
