Thank you very much for sharing a couple of hours with me today to discuss the opportunities at Taylor and Francis.
Reflecting on the conversations I had with you, John, Nora, and Dennis, I envision this role as being at the cutting edge of Taylor and Franciss product development and delivery. Hearing you say that the responsibilities this person would undertake are for long-term growth, were the words I wanted to hear.
As you know from my resume and subsequent conversations, I have already worked for traditional publishers with a track record for developing first-rate product sold through established marketing and sales channels. My most recent experiences in developing leading-edge sales tracking and industry trend databases has shown me that while these conventional distribution models are here to stay for now, growth and market dominance will only come through diversification.
From what I heard today, at Taylor and Francis this diversification will come from focusing on two main areas; developing community-based applications and alternative online strategies. Where the goal of a portal approach is to help drive editorial exposure, manuscript efficiency, discipline-level branding and all around thought leadership, and the expansion on your existing online strategies will service to open up new non-traditional sales channels and truly optimized online marketing.
This is an exciting time for Taylor and Francis and an excellent opportunity to leverage my existing skills and knowledge base to help lead the company into the future of academic publishing. With that said, while there are certainly details to be worked out, I would like to express my sincere interest in joining the Taylor and Francis team.
