Romeo & Juliet
In Romeo and Juliet, the Montagues and the Capulets never got along. However, one young man kept the feud going, and wouldn’t stop at anything to keep his honor and his name was Tybalt. He who enjoys the challenge of the feud much like one would enjoy a competitive sport. Even though, he tends to come off as violent and obnoxious in the play, he’s loyal to his family and care deeply for them. His actions are significant to the play because he seems like a bad guy but in reality, everything he does is to protect his family and keep his dignity.

Although this may show that Tybalt is aggressive, it also shows that he feels threatened.

Lord Capulet throws a party and Romeo, along with his friends, Mercutio, Benvolio and others, decide to crash it. At the party, Tybalt catches Romeo wondering and immediately goes to Lord Capulet, telling him,” Uncle, this is a Montague, our foe, A villain that is hither come in spite to scorn at our solemnity this night.” (I, 5, 69-71) This quote shows that Tybalt is uncomfortable with Romeo being there, he believes that Romeo is there to make a mockery of their party and family. He tends to call Romeo a villain a bunch of time throughout the play.
