Research Case
My name is Anquinette Brown. I was employed as a correctional officer. I have been employed with the Florida Department of Corrections for 5 years. The job is an ok job. But I have done it for the experience with dealing with the offenders so I would know what to expect when changing careers. I am currently in school trying to achieve my Bachelor’s in Criminal Justice concentration to Human Services.
My goal is to become a Probation Officer or a Substance Abuse Counselor. I have 3 children. They are motivation to achieving my goals. I have a 9yr old daughter, 7yr son, and a 3yr old daughter. They are my heart beats. I’m their role model and they look up to me. So by that being said I have to do what is best for me and them.
Also I have currently started working at Fort Lauderdale Hospital as a Mental Health Technician. Haven’t been there long but it’s a very challenging job. Not as challenging as corrections. But I love it. Corrections were a great job but I got tired of being locked down in a prison like I’m an inmate. It was a lot of hard work. I loved the experience but it was time to move on to something better. Which being a Mental Health Tech. was best. I get to work with the substance abused person and people that has mental health problems. With that experience I can use it to further my work experience on towards getting my degree.
