During the second half of this course we started looking at the book of Revelation. While going through it, I have been challenged to let the word of God speak for itself. A lot of times people try to pull too much out of the text and end up misinterpreting it. It is vital to simply take the text for what it is saying and not force and meaning out of it. It is difficult dealing with prophetic literature like this because sometimes it does not make the most sense. And we go into reading it thinking that all of the language is metaphors and think nothing should be taken literally. Then we try to interpret it in a way that makes sense to us but that is a bad way to go about studying and reading the scriptures.
