We had started off with ten poems and we have narrowed it down to these three Love is” by Adrian Henri, “Love sonnet 130” by William Shakespeare, and “How do I Love Thee” by Elizabeth Barrett Browning. Here are some reasons why we chose these three poems.
We chose the poem “Love is” by Adrian Henri because we both thought that it was a very good poem. This is because the stanzas in this poem are very accurate toward love in real life. The rhyming scheme in this poem is very well developed too. It will rhyme three stanzas in row. For example “Love is feeling cold in the back of vans Love is a fan club with only two fans Love is walking holding paint stained hands”.
Our second poem that we chose was “Love Sonnet 130” by William Shakespeare. We chose this poem because it has its descriptive language is used the most effectively out of the other poems. An example of this is “Coral is far more red than her lips red; If hairs be wires, black wires grow on her head”.
The last poem that we have chosen is “How do I Love Thee” by Elizabeth Barrett Browning. We chose this poem because it was very descriptive like “Love sonnet 130” and has well rhyming stanzas like “Love is”. Examples of descriptive language and rhymes are “I love thee to the depth and breadth and height My soul can reach, when feeling out of sight”.
We really enjoyed doing this project because it had us realized the different styles of love poems you can write. So many different forms of descriptive language and word choice has made this project a great enjoyment and experience for the two of us.
