(Gameplay)The main gameplay is turn-based party combat, much in the same vein of how Paper Mario and Final Fantasy used to be. The player character has partners that he/she can choose to swap out and help them fight enemies. In the beginning of the game, the player will only have one partner, but when he/she acquires more partners, the limit to the playing field will be 3 characters; the player character (cannot be switched out of combat) and two partners of his/her choosing. When a battle is initiated, the player selects the actions and the order of the actions of all three of their characters to be played out. Then, it is the enemies turn, and they perform their actions. This is repeated until either the enemies are defeated or the player is defeated. The battles will use a small-numbers system, unlike most RPG games of today. Attack and defense values will not go beyond two digit numbers. Every action will have a set value. That means there are no attacks that do between 4 to 7 damage; there are no random elements. However, there will be button timings with actions that change how effective your attacks are. If you press the correct set of buttons at the timing of your attack, they will do more damage. The variance is completely in the player’s hands. If they perform the button timings correctly, they will do max damage. If they mess up the button timings, they will do standard damage. Every single type of attack will have different button combinations that the player will have to learn and remember to be most effective.
