New Product Design-Reading Assistant
Chapter (1) Introduction:
One of the main objectives of the course Product Design, Development and Marketing is to educate and train students in the systematic design process. Systematic approach to design process divides the process into constituent components and completes the components to achieve the results. The stage based division is based on the intermediate stages (mile stones) the design process goes through. Systematic approach ensures that no specific parts are overlooked and more importantly it provides definite starting and finishing points. The process adopted in this course is shown as a schematic model in Figure below:
The design process has five stages namely, Requirements, Product Concept, Solution Concept, Embodiment and Detail design. This project, Design and Building a Reading Assistant, is undertaken to reinforce the understanding of the systematic design process. The systematic approach to design is fully applied, from start to finish, in it.
The Project:
Reading multiple books concurrently isnt for everyone, but sometimes its helpful to take in a lot of information quickly or to let your mind enjoy varied genres at once.
Reading assistant is a tool that enables researches to look at more than one book simultaneously through holding books open at the desired page. Furthermore, Switching between books keeps each book fresh and it can be a good way to compare them. It can even help you decide what to read if youre not sure. The elegant design of Reading Assistant if integrated with quality material and precious vanity can be a great choice as a memorabilia gift.
Researchers, University Students, Academic Professors, Lawyers, Medical staff and Professional engineers may frequently be in need to synchronize between multiple books at once switching between one to another, searching for a particular information from one, validating a verdict from another, revising Physical law or reading a Mathematical formula from other, such irritating chronic need implies to open and close one book ten times at a time while trying to get some information.
Our project is to design and produce a practical multiple book readers assistant enabling researchers focused on capturing the above switching between 6 books at a time with less possible hassle and efforts.
This report starts with customer statements and requirements of the product, the establishment of customer needs and target specifications from these statements are described in chapter 2. Then, easy book reader function structure was established and then morphological chart was established too, the target specifications set of a firmed-up specifications was consequently established, this process is described in chapter 3. Conceptual Design and selection are described in chapter 4. Embodiment Design
