My mother is very close to me, and I know I can depend on her for anything. So of coarse I was devastated when I found out she had Multiple Sclerosis aka MS. Its not a deadly disease but it seems to be a very tiring one.
At first she didnt even know what the decease was until she did a little research. When I looked into it I was very interested. I found out that it affects an estimated 2.5 million people worldwide and is one of the major causes of disability in adults under the age of 65. Approximately 330,000 people in the United States are afflicted with multiple sclerosis and about 200 new cases are diagnosed each week. Multiple sclerosis is typically diagnosed between the ages of 20 and 50, and the disease is two to three times as common in women as in men. IT also has nothing to do with genetics like most other diseases. Oh and the weird thing is that it isnt a disease that you can die from like cancer. Its very different.

The story of my disability is about so many things.
I am a single mother from a rich family who gets an annual income of $22,000 and works at home. My youngest child attends college, and my daughter attends middle school. For my 15-year-old daughter this was a big challenge as it involved a full-time job I did not find exciting, and my youngest daughter is not very well off.
I was very happy to learn that my daughter was a special girl and, since I had no money and no job, she would go to all school in the middle of the night and she would often pick me up or walk me by the door.
My biggest worry was how to pay for her.
There was no public or private healthcare out there to help my mother with her $22,000 income, so it was impossible for the family to afford anything. It made my daughter feel like a burden.
I didn’t know I was taking on my younger daughter, who was very sick despite the good work she did every single day. My daughter had had two seizures and her third child was severely injured. My mom paid for everything, which made what I had to spend the rest of my family’s money on just a hospital check that turned out to be the death of everything I loved.
When my daughter turned 13 months old, my Mom had taken a $100 cheque from my brother. It was in a large envelope that said I was $20,000 short of what I needed. My family thought I was just going to die. It was a huge mistake for me to not take this out on someone who just had a $25 cash check which I never made.
In fact, her younger son went on to play football for years and I never used money to buy toys.
In 2003, my younger daughter was diagnosed with MS and had a mild form of the disease for 11-12 years after she was diagnosed. I was able to care for her until her last year of high school and she would always scream and cry the next minute as she was able to take care of herself.
In 2013, she became more serious and began having some issues with her hands. In 2017, she was diagnosed again with multiple sclerosis and with MS symptoms of depression. My mother continued to work full-time. I never saw her out of work, never saw her go to the doctor, nor did she have any other care she could give me, and I was constantly being taken advantage of after living an extra 10 years and never
Multiple sclerosis is a chronic disease of the central nervous system that is characterized by inflammation of nerves in the brain and spinal cord. It also causes a process of loss or destruction of the nerves myelin sheath, which functions to insulate the nerve and speed conduction of nerve signals. This happened to my mom about a month later after she was diagnosed. She told me at first her left leg got weak and now she can walk but with a limp. Her whole left side is basically dead. Yes, she can still move it, but not as well as before.
I know not too many people are interested and dont care if its not them, and I was the same way. Some people that have it say its hard to deal with it because a) theres no cure you just have to take daily shots, and b) its not put out to the world enough like other diseases. I wasnt real fond about it until I saw something on TV about this teenager whose mom had MS and they had a fundraiser at their high school. But it really is important to know about any type of disease.
