Humans are constantly innovating ways to produce and consume material resources. A natural resource can be defined as a forest or freshwater that can be located in nature is a necessary factor for humans consumption. A larger human population is greater than environmental impact on our planet, and more people create an increased demand for food, fuel, water, and minerals all which cause some environmental impact during their production (Turk, Bensel, 2011). There are a couple of different characteristics of natural resources. I will be discussing the difference between a non-renewable and a renewable resources.
A non-renewable resource can be defined as an irreplaceable resource, which can be petroleum (fossil fuels), or copper (metal). These oils cannot be replaced once it has been drilled or obtained. Petroleum can have a negative impact on the Earths biosphere, it releases pollutants and greenhouse gasses into the air and damaging the ecosystems by oil spills. Fossil fuels take millions of years to form and they are being depleted faster than new ones are being made, and raise an environment concern on how they are being distributed. Copper is a chemical element and is used as a conductor of heat and electricity, a building material, and a constituent of various metal alloys. Non-renewable resources that are not significantly altered by their use, including most metals, can often be recovered and their usefulness extended by recycling (Smith, Hashemi, 2003).
A renewable resource can consist of food, water, wood. These resources can be replaced with new growth and unable diminish. Herding domesticated animals for meat, milk and eggs, take an extensive strategy, which requires vase areas land. These resources that are dependent on the re-growth of land can sometimes deplete beyond renewability. For instance, clearing trees for land development which can cause the a decrease in food sources for livestock and may cause extinction of certain species. Pollution is another cause for destruction in our water resource. Wastes that are dumped into our waters (oceans, lakes, and streams) can cause our food resource to diminish.
A global environmental organization has educated the human population on the importance of “reduce, reuse, and recycle.” We have recyclable bottles and reusable bags that are produced from textile and polyester fibers. There are simple ways to reduce the amount of plastic waste we generate. We can eliminate all plastic Tupperware contains for glass containers, carry canvas bags, and choose to eat fresh food (they package in their meat in recyclable paper).
How can we achieve changing the habits we have to improve the environment? We need to involve everyone everywhere from demographic policies and transformation planet (Turk, Bensel, 2011). Politicians, ecologist, and everyday citizens need to pay attention on how we treat one another and especially how we treat the
