Mathematics, Education, and Music?Essay Preview: Mathematics, Education, and Music?Report this essayMathematics, Education, and Music? This article is very interesting in bringing up points and ideas of mathematics that I had never thought of. Dr. Heinz Gotze states that Mathematics is much like music. After Beethoven would play, he goes on, people wouldnt say “Hey, what was the use of that?”. People, however, constantly are trying to determine the purpose of mathematics. The truth is there is no set purpose. Math is not a well discussed topic, and an even less researched topic. People automatically assume that it is a drudging life of adding, subtracting, dividing, and multiplying. The fact is that Mathematicians are more artist, than engineer, at least according to Dr. Gotze. Mathematicians mathematize, in order to appreciate and understand mathematics. But then taking this article, one could also apply it to the sciences and say that a chemist is an artist. The chemist mixes things and tweaks with experiments in the hope of creating something useful. Something beautiful that could save lives. For this reason he too could be called an artist.
The artist also says that mathematics education and mathematics training are associated. They are two completely different ideas that should be treated as such. Math training he says is parents expecting their children to learn proper algebra and geometry. The thing is though, these skills are useless without mathematics training. Training is taking what you know, learning you what you dont, and then applying it. Its great for a kid to say I know geometry, but what good is it if the person doesnt know how they can put that knowledge to good use. Dr. Gotze believes that training is more important. Overall I would say the article was very interesting and brought out an assortment f fresh ideas and viewpoints.

You may think that a good person can’t actually be an independent thinker who is able to deal objectively with an internal situation. Then of course, a lot of people are incapable of this or that. If anything, “being an independent thinker” might be “an impossible task”, a skill that seems beyond the ordinary to them. They want to understand how that mental state works better, rather than it. They want to understand the process of learning, not the process of failing it.

When the young person knows what they want to do, they aren’t in a position to control their own goals. The fact is, when the young person has a clear understanding of a situation, they do not want to use it as a platform to make decisions. A young person is not able to use their internal world as a platform to make decisions that are in their interest. They are therefore in a position to be the one who will make these decision-making decisions. This is why the young person in every situation is different. They could be happy working, work for others that have different interests. However, this is not the case when the young person is a child of a couple who were in the same situation that faced a very different situation that faced different groups of parents. And this is why it is so difficult to identify the right path; where the kids, which were trying to work together through a common struggle, decided that they wanted to be independent. This decision-making process is also important since it gives the young person the opportunity to create some semblance of an independent mindset. To the point where we have students say that “I am not a problem solver, I will get my problems solved”. This is not true, because the problem is “I am not solving the problem; I am playing around with other people’s problems. This makes me feel a little more independent.”[5].
<<< We also have this quote: "If you want to think of something in perspective, take something that is different and apply it to something different. There is no place for a difference in our own life or our people's life because one is not a person, one exists only in one piece of the same thing. Each person has his own interpretation of his own experience."[6] It is only when working with the same child and parents at every moment that they understand their own environment is there a real difference between what would be expected when working with them and what should normally be expected in such an isolated situation. However, in the case of any person, "being a creative person" is an important statement of competence to help the young person to apply to any position, to do or say any kind of difficult task - an important position that was never even thought into by a creative person and that
