While the MOCA held artist that were fairly new, the LACMA held quite a few of well known artist such as Jackson Pollock, Maynard Dixon, or Thomas Hart Benton. When visiting MOCA the most interesting artwork that was appealing was “War Never Ends” by Mathew Monahan, and when visiting the LACMA the most interested artwork that was appealing to me was “Mountain of the Holy Cross” by Thomas Moran. Through proper analysis of each of these artworks and artists, it will help show a better understanding of each artist as an individual and their mindset when creating artwork.
The first artist is unknown and his name is Mathew Monahan with his artwork titled “War Never Ends.” Monahan was born in 1972 in Eureka, California. He is now an artist based in Los Angeles. Monahan studied at Cooper Union School of Art in New York and the Gerit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam, Holland; both representing him by the Anton Kern Gallery in New York and Fons Welters in Amsterdam. Monahan uses symbolism in his artwork to express their meanings. He created sculptures that were meant to recorded histories, equally in his own mindset and of cultural knowledge. Using a variety of different mediums, he scalps unique representations out of his own creative output. In his artwork, “War Never Ends”, he uses a variety of mediums such as wood, wax, drywall, charcoal, paper glass, and foam. Using these materials he creates
, and then constructs a work out of the elements, with a minimalism of an artist who can capture the viewer’s consciousness with a simple and minimalist design. He uses his body with his head and hands as a “living” embodiment of the character he represents. He makes a very artistic sculpture that is fully realized in its design, as well as in his own words, which are always fully original. Monahan’s focus on “fascination and wonder” are important. The artist wants his work that reflects the reader’s spirit of living his identity, which includes being part of a creative world and taking joy in the world. The final goal is that he can create something that captures the reader’s attention and creates a unique work which allows him to be part of a wider world of life and to create the world. This is reflected in his artwork, S

• The story takes place in a new day and the events leading up to it are quite different. Many characters’ lives are very different from that of our own.
• It’s an amazing story from an amazing group of artists.
• It’s a very, very unique and unique work, which is very unique for the whole “art” movement.
The story ends in some time after our last encounter with Monahan. He has recovered and, with all his great art, will have returned to his home in New York. We spoke with the artist shortly after Monahan’s return from Europe, and he indicated it was important to his work. He said, “I would love to come back with a new home in New York. Because I’m feeling pretty bad for the work that I put in there right now. I’m trying to find a story that’s unique and not just a matter of when I come back when I’m ready to come back in. So I’m going to bring new life to the work through new ways. We’re going to go back back to the one they’re working together on and see who made it and how we were making it.” Monahan stated that there would be little difficulty in creating a new work if he had the time. He continued, “I want my work to be unique and to bring more life to the art because I want to bring this experience back to my whole life and that’s what draws me to art that is great. I’ll come back to it more in a short amount of time, but the experience will be so unique and new for this kind of guy.” Monahan’s artwork is on display in his home in Manhattan, and will be exhibited in galleries around the United States until August 25, 2017. It opens at the New York International Art Museum this week.
