Ladies and Gentlemen of the jury, I stand before you as a person, defending a person. A person that I believe to be innocent. Tom Robinson would pass Mayella Ewells house on his way to the fields everyday, to help her out with things around the house. This dose not make him guilty. Tom is a good man. He would never hurt a fly. In fact his owner made a statement that “hes never caused a speck of trouble.” My first point of evidence has to do with DNA and blood. Tom Robinson has type AB blood, which was not found at the scene. Mr. Ewell has type O blood, which was found on Maylellas dress. Mayella Has Type B blood, which was found on Mr. Ewells overalls. This indicates that Toms blood was nowhere to be found at the scene. If he had raped her, there would be a struggle, in which case, Toms blood should be there. My second piece of evidence is hair. Toms hair is very short and would be difficult to pull out. There was no short hairs of Toms Hair color found. There were medium size hairs that were brown, consistent with Mr.Ewell, found at the scene. There were a lot of long brown hairs found at the scene and on Mr.Ewells overalls. My next type of evidence is fingerprinting. Tom has a whorl fingerprint. The only places where Toms fingerprints were, were on the door, and the chair he knocked over when Mayella tried to kiss him. If there had been a struggle with Tom, his fingerprints would be all over places. My next evidence is handwriting. There was a note at the scene that said “ill rape your wife if you dont pay me 100,000 dollars.” Signed Tom Robinson. This was written left handed. Toms left arm was caught in a cotton gin when he was 12. He cant use it for anything. Mayella claimed that there was two bruise marks in the shape of ands on her neck. If Tom had did this, there would only be one, because of his arm situation. Another thing dealing with Toms arm is the fact that Mayellas right side of
