The organization promotes patients safety through implementation of National Patient Safety Goals. The goal focuses on the accuracy of the patients’ identity and correct and safe patients’ medication (Krasker & Lin 2005). It also focuses on reduction of health risks such as patients self-harm or suicide and infections. The organization emphasizes on obtaining the right-identity of the patients by recording the patients personal detail to ensure that medical officers address the above issues. The medical staff also ensures that patients get the right diagnosis and medication. Lastly, there is strict follow up on the surgical operations to provide a high degree of safety and no errors (Krasker & Lin 2005).
The organization has measures in place that helps prevent exposure of patients and staff to infection. All medical practitioners in the organization use personal protective equipment and gowns. The PPEs and gowns reduce the exposure to the body or a surface with contaminations (McCunney & Barbanel1999). The organizations policies and regulation emphasize on excellent respiratory hygiene and etiquette. Staffs, patients, and visitors get training how to use behavioral control measures (e.g. covering the mouth when sneezing) to avoid infections. They also ensure special handling and spatial separation of patients with infectious diseases (Krasker & Lin 2005). Lastly, the organization employs a good waste management practices that ensures proper treatment and disposal of infectious wastes especially the body fluids and parts.
