Religion Vs. ScienceEssay Preview: Religion Vs. ScienceReport this essayReligion vs. ScienceDecember 10, 2003I would like to approach this subject from the position of being a member of the panel who has awaited his turn to speak and approach this not in the spirit of argument, rather in the spirit of discussion. My views are based on being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and in no way do I wish to force my beliefs on any of the members of the panel, instead I prefer to place them on the table objectively to be discussed later.
It is true that many people after obtaining some knowledge of science begin to doubt the teachings of their fathers religion. However, I would say that this is not because they have come to a greater knowledge of science, but rather they do not understand God. Many have grown up with a mystical understanding of God Ð- that He is a being who has no body parts or passions large enough to fill the entire universe but small enough to dwell in ones heart. To a scientist, this view is illogical and goes against natural laws. God is flesh and blood; we are created in His image as pointed out in the Bible, in Genesis. This viewpoint was also expressed in the Bible, in Mathew, when Christ was resurrected and His apostles were asked to come forward and feel the prints in His hands and feet and see that He was still flesh and blood.
The Bible is not written as an opinion document. The entire text of the whole Bible is about science, but it is equally important to study it in depth. Many of the authors of the Bible teach that the Bible is the written Word of God. All the other writings of the Bible are written by a writer from whom these works were received in his person. These writings are believed to have originated in Him who is the Word of God.
We now know that the Bible is true (as a whole), but that many of them are false. That some may believe the stories and doctrines of the Bible and the writings of the prophets to be true, and others do not.
What are a scientific person to do to reject one’s personal beliefs? I can answer that the scientific person is to respect and believe what they have heard and known in their heart of hearts, and their sense of right and wrong in their personal life, and not to become involved in the manipulation of their personal life by the influence of a religious movement.
What is scientific philosophy, if not philosophy as I think it is described in the New Testament? Science is an activity of the mind and an expression of social, economic, political and metaphysical information, in some forms from scientific sources. I call this process scientific philosophy. I am sure that scientific philosophy is only a subset of philosophy, but it should be taken seriously because of all its implications for human society and our way of life. Science in its purest form does represent the highest form of truth and understanding in human existence yet not the knowledge itself. Science in that sense is the ultimate expression of the mind.
What is the meaning of “science,” if this has any meaning at all? Here I will show you that scientific principles are not to be confused with the moral, religious and political teachings that are accepted in the world as scientifically valid or the principles of the faith of which they are based.
Scientific principles are not supposed to be true. Science is supposed to be a tool of moral and religious wisdom. These are not ideas that you might find in a book or book, but things you might think and act on, not theories that you think could be used, or that might have any meaning at all.
Scientists may talk at length about the physical world but they are not trying to prove anything but “this.” They are trying to teach an example of something we already know in advance and in light of the facts concerning that particular thing that we believe in. So it is with science.
What are the origins of the science of the Bible? What are their original origins, and why is all this a bit of a mystery? Perhaps they speak about a time when men were already being sent away by the Maker from Earth. Perhaps they are referring to the time when man established the world as something that was out of date, and we now know it as the present world. Perhaps they mean the era (or time of creation) from which men arrived. Or maybe they mean the era from which men are now in positions of power or power positions. Or maybe they mean some of the main aspects of creation

Feynman in his essay made it clear that scientists must be able use the scientific method, “If I do this, what will happen?”, in order to answer its questions. Any question, philosophical or not, that cannot be put into this form must reside outside the realm of science. The mistake is that scientists do not believe that this type of questioning can be applied to religion. However, the very teachings of God show us that not only can it be applied, but that it must be applied in order for one to come to the same type of knowledge of God as he/she would about something scientifically. In the Bible, which is common to most religions as well as mine, it says concerning tithing, “Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouseÐand prove me now herewith. If I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it”. Therefore, one may apply the scientific question to the principal of tithing. Christ gave us another example: He said that if we want to know whether or not the doctrine is true and comes from the Father, we must “do his will” then we “shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of
