Health Project
For my wellness project I wanted to choose a topic to work on that I was struggling with. I have had a hard time learning to appreciate myself. So I thought a topic focused on self love and attaining a higher self esteem would be the best for me. This area of health I am broadening is my mental health. Mental health deals with your self esteem (Respect).Through my mental health I will be able to understand why I feel this way about myself, and try to address these thoughts in a more optimistic way.
When researching my project I came across multiple sites offering insight on self esteem. One of the websites was called Mind for better mental health. This website offered insightful ways to help improve one’s self esteem. Such as; connect with people, learn to be assertive, set goals for yourself and avoid negative talk. This website also explained how having a low self esteem isn’t a mental health problem but they are closely linked. If these feelings of being hopeless and hating yourself progress they can lead to a mental health problem such as depression or anxiety. Also a mental health problem can cause you to have a low self esteem, which can make it difficult to cope or increase your self esteem. At kids health.org it helped explained what a healthy self esteem can help do. It can help people find the courage to try new things, make new friends, and believe in yourself. You can grow your self esteem like a garden. Having a low self esteem can hurt you. At the teen life depression self esteem.com the website talks about how young adults have the power to decide between right and wrong. This positive self esteem gives you the courage to be your own person, believe in your values. This website also explains how its not easy to change your self esteem and can be a lifelong process. So taking one day at a time is the best process. The youngswomenshealth.org wrote about how its normal to have negative thoughts once in a while but finding ways to be positive is the best way
