Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni commonly known as Michelangelo was commissioned at the age of 26 by the Opera del Duomo to create Michelangelos David. Michelangelos David was a sculpted when as a symbol of freedom from the rule from foreign and papal domination, and from the rule of the Medici family. It represented Davids victory over the tyrant Goliath. During the unveiling of the Michelangelos David it took 40 men four days to move it 600 yards to the Piazza della Signoria and an additional 20 days to raise it to the arringhiera. During this time the Medici supporters showed there hate for the sculpture and what it represent by throwing shows at it. A second group also protested and was objected about its nudity. So in summary not all of the public accepted Michelangelos David but was eventually seen for its meaning but now only noticed for its aesthetic features.
Marcel Duchamps Nude Descendung Staircase was one that combined Cubism and Futurism in it time. Marcel Duchamp was influenced by stroboscopic photography. It is thought that Duchamp was influenced by a series of photos from Muybridges book Animal Locomotion of 1887. The art was first exhibited in the Armory Show in New York 1913. The contemporary viewers were objective because they felt that the artist was mocking the audience. A magazine company even offered ten dollars if someone could find one figure of a woman. The artist was challenging the artist boundaries as if saying there was not any.
