Chemistry
Ethanol
Ethanol is a volatile, flammable, colorless liquid. It is a psychoactive drug and one of the oldest recreational drugs. Ethanol is not all that good. Pure ethanol that is in direct contact to the body can cause irritation to the skin and eyes. If you use it for a long time, it can result in serious liver damage.
Sorbitol
Sorbitol is usually found in different kinds of fruits and plants. Sorbitol is a popular sugar substitute in dietetic foods, especially in sugar-free chewing gum and mints. There is a study that showed that diarrhea is significantly more prevalent in diabetics who consume sorbitol-containing foods compared with diabetics who do not consume these products.
Mineral Oil
The oil that is being sold as baby oil is 100% of mineral oil. Mineral oil is a derivative of crude oil. The mineral oil isnt that healthy for the skin. The mineral oil might slow down the skin function and normal cell development causing the skin to prematurely age. This will create unhealthy, sensitive skin that dries out easily.
Isopropyl Alcohol
Isopropyl alcohol is usually found in hair color rinses, body rubs, hand lotions, aftershave lotions, fragrances, and a whole bunch of other cosmetics. Your hair can react very badly to isopropyl alcohol, and this chemical should be avoided. This chemical will dry your hair out and it would break it off. The use of this ingredient can also cause headaches, flushing, dizziness, mental depression, nausea, vomiting, and also coma in extreme cases.
Color Pigments
Color pigments can cause skin sensitivity and irritation. This can also cause depletion of oxygen in the body and even death. Once Debra Lynn Dadd says in Home Safe Home: “Colors that can be used in foods, drugs, and cosmetics are made from coal tar. There is a great deal of controversy about their use, because animal studies have shown almost all of them to be carcinogenic.”
