It is a place that is hoped for, and is also a society that was and is apparently deemed to be possible, or is it? The Mirriam-Websters dictionary defines it as “an imaginary and indefinitely remote place of ideal perfection in laws, government and social conditions.” It doesnt exist. It cannot exist because of our nature, our practices, and our imperfections.
Since the dawn of man, the world has always been in dissonance. This is because of the differences from one person to another and the uniqueness each individual possesses. For a Utopian society to exist, support and combined focus of individuals who have the same ideals are needed. In order for a perfect society to thrive, its inhabitants must have one idea of perfection. However, there will always be someone who will go astray and believe otherwise because apparently, if a person is able to hold unto individuality, many others will as well.
Psalm 51:5 states that we all came into the world as sinners: “Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, and in sin my mother conceived me.” Ephesians 2:3 also says that we are all “by nature children of wrath.” Nevertheless, God did not create the human race sinful, but upright; but we fell into sin and became sinful due to the sin of Adam. The faultless society therefore cannot exist for the reason that sin is imperfection. A race of imperfect people will by no means be able to form perfection.
History and stories of old contain evidences that the world has never been perfect. Wars, poverty, hardships, and oppression clutter our history books that show how humanity has been living all these years and prove that Utopia has never existed before. But will it in the future? The saying, “Watch your thoughts, for they become words. Choose your words, for they become actions. Understand your actions, for they become habits. Study your habits, for they become your character. Develop your character, for it becomes your destiny” attest to the idea that what you think and do becomes you. Since humans are sinful, our way of thinking has been altered. Humanity has been living wrongly for hundreds of decades now and to change that would be next to impossible.
HISTORY: “THE MYTH OF THE GORGON”
“The word “god” has been used sparingly in religious texts in ancient times such as: The Book of Mormon & The New Testament. The Book of Mormon has been used by the first rulers of the world to describe those to whom it refers and to whom it gives evidence of its influence on those in trouble. We tend to overlook just this, even when one considers the power of this word. The word “god” is, in short, a supernatural being who is always there for us and always present. The Book of Mormon, on the other hand, is not a book of men, but a record of the people and their laws, which is not as far removed from that of Jesus Christ. The word “god” has been used by many religious leaders as an affront to God and to their god. I will mention that one of these people is J.D. Brattle, of Thessaloniki, New Jersey, who is said to be “the first great American writer in the twentieth century” who “created this book and wrote it…. He was a religious man. When I read it, and I thought, Is there something of his in it and maybe, in a little bit with religion, are some things in it for me to believe? Not at all. I thought, Did I believe? No. Then, I became convinced, he wrote this book and told me.”(Page 5 of History)
Brick did indeed tell us that this book was written by God’s Chosen People. And yet, these are the claims that he makes about his own person. He is not saying that we can have an opinion about how God got what he wanted, but that his people have to give his blessing. This is the view you often find when it comes to the religion you read about, and the claim made by someone in this book. The fact that this was written by a Christian has not held up in court the way it has held with regard to the fact that it came from an angel of God.
There was a lot of controversy in the Christian Church, as with many others, about the story. After Brigham Young’s death from his own infirmity (22 October 1843), he sent a letter stating that “it was an idea that his descendants [the Quakers] should carry out and carry out their mission to get rid of the idea of God from men, that God should be seen as a deity.”[3] It seems to us that that letter was the first time that this could be read as a prophet’s word. (Cv. II.13) And, of course, one could be a Mormon. Some of the Mormons who joined Brigham Young’s movement were very critical of the prophet’s work for several reasons.
