The Alchemist and to Kill a Mockingbird Comparision
Comparing novels“To kill a mocking bird” and “The alchemist” contain many characters with varying personalities and preferences. There are few characters from “the alchemist” whose personalities and preferences are the complete opposite of the characters from “To kill a mockingbird”, vice versa. This difference can be clearly noticed between Santiago, the protagonist of “The alchemist” and Arthur(Boo) Radley, an actor from “To kill a mockingbird”.Santiago is an adventurous boy, who likes to travel and explore a lot. He chose to be a shepherd rather than being a priest by learning Latin, Spanish and theology in a seminary, because as a Shepheard he had more opportunities to travel the world with his flock of sheep. Whereas boo Radley prefers to stay in his home and never come out, he never stepped out of his house for 15 years and is a mystery man to the neighborhood kids. Santiago is all about following his personal legend/destiny even though it requires him to travel half way around the world. While boo Radley prefers solitude. Santiago is a friendly, educated, kind and passionate person who is liked by everyone. While boo Radley is a mystery man and presumed to be uneducated, very few know how he looks like since he never leaves his house and he piques the interest of the neighboring kids.
