“Accepting Gay Marriage”
The idea of same sex marriage is one that has been looked at as taboo for many years. Though in more modern times people ideals of views of it have drastically changed. More people are open to the idea of same sex marriage and respect the peoples wishes and sexual preference. Although there are still many who strongly oppose the idea for many reasons whether its religious views, family values, or just thinking its wrong. For many the idea is silly and almost feels like it shouldnt even be up for debate there are more ridiculous things that are legal that are much more drastic and ridiculous than two same sex people getting married.
Gay marriage is just scary for many people because its different but people are going to need to realize that in an ever evolving people will have to accept others for who they and how they act not what they do in the privacy of their own lives. So many people in the US have this idea that gay marriage is so terrible and how it will destroy our nations family values and the way America was brought up. But how will that become hurt in anyway if two people who love each other want to get married and just happen to be that same sex?
Many politicians make themselves heard on this topic of same sex marriage and absolutely love to express their thoughts. Former republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney said “Ive always opposed gay marriage. I believe that we should provide equal rights to people regardless of their sexual orientation but I do not believe that marriage should be between two people of the same gender”. How does this make sense to say if you want to have equal rights regardless of sexual orientation if you still wont allow them to get married? It just doesnt make sense if you want equal rights why not give them support. Is it possible that Mitt being a Mormon opposes the thought of same sex marriage because he believes its unholy? They say that church and state is separate but how can this be true if politicians wont support same sex marriage because they believe its unholy.
There is also this idea that supporting gay marriage will supercharge and launch homosexuality into the mainstream which many people find disturbing. Though in many ways I can see how it might be scary for people seeing that for so many years theres been this idea that gay marriage has been disgraceful in society. People are scared to see gay couples in everyday society and think youth will be heavily influenced on the matter as well. Though this brings up the question of why is this bad thing. So are youth are introduced to something different its not always a bad thing maybe it will lead to a brighter future in that we will live in a more excepting world where people dont judge on someones personal preferences.
