I never knew that a person can learn so much in such a short time. He was born at June 19, 1861 and died in December 30, 1896 at the age of 35. What amazes me the most about him is not just the talents that God had given him but more on his attitude. He’s not weak because he never seeks revenge on anybody. Although it’s hard to forget the pain and sorrows that happened to his life and sometimes was caused by others he knows how to forgive and that’s what makes him strong. His sisters once laughed at him for spending so much time making images rather than participating in their games he kept silent and ignored their laughs and said this, “All right laugh at me now! Someday when I die, people will make monuments and images of me!” of course not knowing that will actually happen in near future. He ignored the negative feedbacks he got from people who think otherwise like what Einstein did and that makes him an intelligent. The measure of intelligence is the ability to change. Yes, he didn’t change the situation the world is in but he was able to change the fate of our nation and the lives of the Filipinos. He freed us from the grasps of the Spaniards and released us from the anguish that they’ve done which caused the loss of so many innocent people during their rule.
Rizal’s life, work, and martyrdom raised him to the highest place in the pantheon of our revolutionary heroes. His mother Dona Teodora Alonso Realonda almost died during her delivery while giving birth to our national hero due to his head being big. She wasn’t just an ordinary mother who would just do the laundry and cook food for her family, no. In fact, she is the first teacher of Jose Rizal. His mother was a smart and a beautiful woman wherein he inherited it. Without his mother he wouldn’t have become who he became. It takes someone really brave to be a mother, someone strong to raise eleven children to see them grow into fine adults and someone special to love someone more than herself. A mother’s love for her child is like nothing else in the world. It knows no law, no pity, it dares all things and crushes down remorselessly all the stands in its path. Because of Rizal’s mothers’ strong personality, she was able to raise her children into fine young women and men especially her favorite child Rizal whom his parents never spoiled. His father Don Francisco Mercado was a silent man who doesn’t really talk and works more. His father was a great man who never failed to provide for his family what they needed. He gave his children proper education and was even able to build a two-story stone house and another one through working hard to make sure his family wouldn’t starve one day. I personally believe that the greatest gift a father can give to their child is if he believes in him/her no matter the circumstances. And Rizal was lucky enough to have a father who believed in him. His father still believed in the works that Rizal had left after his heroic death. Each parent is unique. You can see how much he loves both his parents and siblings, how much he cares for them and wanting them all to be safe and happy.
