I. INTRODUCTION
Media is the plural form of MEDIUM. Media is a product of technology. It is a method of communication that exist in materials such as VHS, DVDs, films, audiotapes and CDs, that require special equipment to be used.
Introduction to film
The origin of the name comes from the fact that photographic film has historically been the primary medium for recording and displaying motion pictures.
Movie are printed on celluloid media where sequence of picture will form a motion that is animated therefore come the term motion pictures (or just pictures or “picture”), the silver screen, photoplays, the cinema, picture shows, flicks — and commonly movies. When films were played, a series of individual frames followed sequentially, when these images are shown rapidly in succession, the illusion of motion is given to the viewer.

Semiotics is defined by Ferdinand de Saussure as:
“A science that studies the life of signs within society is conceivable; it would be a part of social psychology, I shall call it semiology (from Greek semeion sign). Semiology would show what constitutes signs, what laws govern them.”
Semiotics in film
Film is the some of the media which have a lot of semiotics element within the media itself. Film uses not only words, but also different kinds of shots, angles and speeds to present fictional narrative for the viewing of audience. Therefore not just give us meaning thru language but from many element that made a film entertaining and absorbing.

Image, dialogue, noise, music, written materials
To better describe film element of semiotics we need to refer to advance Christian Metzs argument of the means by which film expresses itself to its audience.

History of narrative
Old movies that lack of narrative structure quickly run out of novelty; people dont feel like it to watch movies that are few minutes long. Their wanted more for their money spend. Georges Melies were the first filmmakers that made narrative motion pictures; the first movie was a fiction or imaginative story such as A trip to the moon (1902). He impressed the world with his inventiveness. Then after the release of this movie, many filmmakers started to use film as a medium to tell stories. During the years the medium evolve into better stage for creative storytelling.
Narrative structure in film
Narrative structure in film is very important, it give sense of the overall story thru cohesive plot structure. It will enhance the flow of the film and generates the realism necessary for the audience to follow the story and benefit from educational value of the film. It is a form of communication between the film and its audience. By choosing how to cut the story the film is trying to relate to the viewer, the director decides how that story is going to speak to the outside world.

In this media, portrayal of gender is most conspicuously shows to the viewer; provided that the viewers have adequate media literacy skill to identify those misrepresentations of gender, for example children who lack this skill will not be able identify the false representation of gender and thinks it is normal.
