Behavioral Change Contract
Mr. Cain has requested the help of KCH family counseling. Mr. Cain has been struggling with alcohol problems that have affected the whole family. Mr. and Mrs. Couple both agree that Cains drinking has caused most of their problems. Cain has agreed to participating in behavioral therapy as well as marriage counseling. The following pages will include an assessment of the problem areas that need to be decreased and increased. This assessment will give the therapist insight on the target areas. This assessment will help in constructing a behavioral contract for Mr. Cain to sign and agree to.

The assessment
The first part of the assessment will be with both Jolene and Cain. It has been determined and agreed upon with both that Cains drinking is the root of the problem. Jolene stated that Cain has always drunk, but did not have a problem with it until after he lost his job. Cain admitted that when he lost his job he went into a major depression. The second part of the assessment is with Cain alone. Cain described how when he lost his job he was depressed and then he took his money and invested it in starting a business and it failed sent him into a deeper depression.

Cain stated he felt like he had failed his wife. Cain had described how drinking to get drunk kept him numb and away from reality. Cain also stated that he could not communicate with his wife because he was so ashamed of himself. Cain has agreed that he has problems and drinking seems to be at the root of his problems. My goal is to find the right behavioral therapy available to help Cain conquer his behavioral problems. The first step to fixing a problem is acknowledging that there is a problem. The second step is realizing what the target problem is and in Cains situation drinking seems to be the target problem.

Plan for self-directed change
The plan for self-directed change will include Cain changing his daily activities. There will be a meeting with both Jolene and Cain to determine how the communication stopped between the couple and what can
