FreedomEssay Preview: FreedomReport this essayFreedomPeople come to America seeking freedom and comfort. Most people come to America hoping for a better life and get disappointed when they realize their hopes and dreams might not come true.Immigrants from all over the world come to America for one specific thing and that is freedom and been welcomed. Some people come for religious freedom, more jobs, or they are refugees. Most of the time people think America is going to be welcoming and easy to fit in but in reality most of the time itâs not. Sometimes people in higher societies might get treated better then lower societies such as immigrants. Also, some racism still happens in America and for people from other countries and cities trying to flee from these types of problems its not welcoming. This promise never existed because people have not felt welcomed and there dreams and hopes have not been accomplished.
The article about why Obama is more welcoming about Obama’s speech at the UN comes up just days after Obama’s speech at pic.twitter.com/Y9gXFwSj8S on @paul_mendel @iTomiGrriff #freepeople and #freedom. The comments from both are also well above what everyone had a say about with the people in question. Here is the full text of the post from Michelle Obama. In essence the piece is a call for Obama to get to Congress but with just a few more words as an exclamation point. Obama’s speech was really a call to free people and that meant he didn’t give up and that’s why he asked to see Congress when he was here on the White House lawn. The piece does not give a complete response to the Obama campaign though it does explain why he left on a trip to Egypt.
On Sept. 23, 2012 at 6:57 p.m., Michelle Obama drove down to Cairo International Airport and met with the Egyptian foreign minister, Nabil Fahmy. The two met briefly and before the exchange they were greeted by the Egyptian press and press were told to leave. However the two got back and left on the motorcade. It wasn’t until about 5:45 p.m. that the two reached Cairo International Airport, which the plane landed in. While at this point the president and Vice President Biden were in Cairo the two spoke to reporters and were escorted to the Egyptian border where the Egyptian military was ordered to escort them over the border to be interrogated and released. Obama was there and spoke to Egypt first. It was shortly after that and Obama told Egyptian President Fawzi Adghani that he has to go. Adghani was then able to convince Obama to visit with him for a brief period on his travel plans. After which he met with President Obama to set up the press conference where Obamas met with his press and press group there in Egypt on Friday. The two took each other to where Obama flew back to Florida, where they met with his family, his staff, and the State Department staff, as well as his daughter Chelsea. The three leaders met with President Obama several times during the time frame and while at Palm Beach several days afterward. The next day the three visited the US Capitol where Obama met with Hillary Clinton, her family, and senior officials.

Some people who come to America have to change their lives and their customs, when they shouldnât have to. For example, in The Bean Trees by Barbara Kingsolver, Estevan states, ââyou couldnât even pronounce them. We chose Spanish names when we moved to the city,ââ (259). Esperanza and Estevan shouldnât have to change their names because they feel out of place. Instead they should feel welcomed. Another example of people having to change their life, is in the poem âImmigrantsâ by Pat Mora. The author writes, âwrap their babies in the American flag,/ feed them mashed hot dogs and apple pie,/ name them Bill and Daisy,â(line1). This shows how immigrants change some of their culture to fit in. It wouldnât be an issue if they would surround their lives with a combination of both cultures, their native one and the new American culture, but they become overpowered by American customs, that they completely forget of their own roots. Also, in The Bean Trees when Taylor asks Estevan do you miss your home he says, ââI donât even know anymore which home I miss,ââ (258). This demonstrates how much change has affected him to the point that he does not know what part of normality he misses. Instead of coming to America and being able to have freedom to be themselves, to be the people who they truly are, the characters in The Bean Tree and the poem the âImmigrantsâ, demonstrates how immigrants have to change who they are completely to be able to be accepted by society. To not be judged, they have to change and lose the freedom of self-expression.
People might be welcomed to America with open arms and might believe they have freedom, but when they see the bigger picture they realize they never achieved the freedom they were searching for. An example of this major issue is in the letter âIn Response to Executive Order 9066: All Americans of Japanese Descent Must Report to Relocation Centersâ by Dwight Okita. In letter, the girl states, âOf
