In todays society we are approaching a new horizon on where we are heading. Cultures, ethics, and even religions are changing with a pace that is startling. Terrorists are even becoming more active to try and claim a piece of this world and reform it to the unknown of what they believe. Our government is trying to adjust to this by instituting national identification cards. These cards will be taking the place of our current drivers license and eventually store data about us on them for the world to see. This project will undergo a multi billion dollar change over the United States and reform our technology as we see use it today. The ID cards are supposed to be a new and safe way to live and work in the U.S. National Identification cards may look pretty on paper but in reality they will be the demise of our own society as we see it today.
Stated in the Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act of 2004, “Sources of identification are the last opportunity to ensure that people are who they say they are and to check whether they are terrorists.” the government does not trust the people. Instead they are trying to revolutionize they way we think, live, and buy. Imposing the national identification cards is not a step towards the future but a step back in our government and society. These cards are just one more way for them to have an effect on what we will do and where we will go.
The cost of this project is going to be a multi billion dollar process. The government will have to find sources for grants and loans to all parts of the corporate America because most of the businesses will not be able to afford the technology update required to make this new program work. But how is the government going to find the financial resources for this advancement? Will they raise our taxes? Will people be charged even more for the necessities and luxuries of life? Is this cost efficient to the budget of the U.S.? I think that this will affect the middle and lower classmens pocket book a lot more than it will affect the upper classmen. It is already apparent that our country
