Network Topologies
In a star topology every device is connected to something called a Hub. A hub is a specialized type of hardware that receives data transmission and routs everything to its proper location. A star configuration is very easy to install and update. Only reason it is easy to install and update is because everything is connected to the hub. The Hub acts as a central controller for the entire network. With the star type of set up if a problem occurred with the network you could easily find out what’s wrong and fix it immanently without having to redo the entire network. Also this type of network setup would make it really easy to reconfigure the network because all you would have to do is make all your changes you want top the hub. The down side of this type of network configuration is that if your hub goes out so does your entire network along with it.
A bus topology is the most simplest of the networks, this type of network all it is, is that the devises are connected to one cable also known as a bus. Some good things in having this type of network is that, this type of networking is cheap compared to the others. Also if you needed to connect new hard ware that would not be a problem all you would have to do is connect it to the bus and all set good to go. A down side to this type of network is similar to the star network. In a star network if the hub died so did the network, well like that but in a bus configuration if the central cable dies then your entire network dies with it. This is also the most common used networking for home and small businesses that are starting out due to its inexpensive cost.
With a ring network configuration each node is connected to two other nods which in the end makes a giant network circle. The best part about the ring network configuration is that unlike the Bus and the Star configuration where if the Central cable or the hub went down
