In late 1986, a gang of surfers from Brest, France decided to realize a dream and create their own brand of surfwear, called Kanabeach.
They printed their first tee-shirts in their basement. The success of their first homemade creations allowed them to produce their first collections. Their “tribal roots” fashion line really made a big splash in the surfwear of that time. Riders like the spirit of the brand that stood for colour and good humour.
The collections have developed and expanded over the years and the first women’s line appeared in 1994. Constantly experimenting with new fabrics and new colours, Kanabeach collections are never dull, always original. Their clientele is no longer made up entirely of riders and more and more wearers are loyal to this brand’s fun image.
In 1997, Kanabeach came out with six new ranges:
For women:
Supernatural (natural fibers)
Superstar (sport and casual wear)
Minicable (“classy”)
For men:
Biologik (natural fibers, including hemp)
Elementary (sports and casual look)
Marcel (remake of granddad’s old school look)
In the summer of 2005, the six collections were reorganized into three fashion lines: Biologik (based on natural materials), Circus (streetwear) and Elegant. The new collections have both men’s and women’s wear and include a full range of accessories and bags.
Kanabeach is specialized in creations for surfing, skating and board sports in general. KB sponsors a great number of competitions in their own special style, with great atmosphere, followed by wild nights.
In 1996, KB became official sponsor of the Ondines Challenge, first 100% women’s surf competition. Renamed KanaMisscup in 2003, the competition has become a leading sports event; bring together more and more sportswomen every year.
The team has expended over the years as more and more riders have switched to Kanabeach.
Kanabeach has become a standard, both for the originality of their products and for their success as a communications media. Kanabeach reaches out beyond geographic and cultural barriers. Their slogan: “All different but all together!”
