Teen DrivingEssay Preview: Teen DrivingReport this essayMatt WoodleyMs. Laury10th grade LiteratureFebruary 29th, 2012Teen drivingTeen driving is causing havoc across the globe. The teen driving age limit should be revised because of the high rate of crashes, teens not having high enough developed brains. This is why teens get into more motor vehicle accidents than anyone in the United States. The drinking habit for teens is not normally the problem. That actually accounts for hardly any percentage of crashes with young teens. If the driving age limit was increased, people may feel safer while taking their kids around. The government cannot get them off the roads; they just need to find a way to restrict their ways of being on them.
Teen Driving is in more danger to young adults than it ever has been. In fact, we have seen a 30 percent increase in all teen traffic crashes since 2012. The teen driving issue is so far the problem we are facing right now. Why do we want to do anything about it? We want to make sure our children can be safe on our streets and in our homes. This is a matter of trust. This year the Justice Department decided to take the case to court. A group of states including Florida, Delaware, Illinois and Vermont are suing together over a $500m plan to add a 20mph limit to Washington DC. The plan calls for increased speed limits to cities in the DC area to maintain 100mph speed limits. The plan does not include in any way any local authority plans to increase speed, except for certain high priority public transit like the Metro line that was built at an earlier point in time.

Teen driving ratios are scarier than they appear. Teens need bigger compact cars, because they get into bigger and more fatal crashes, and if they have a safe car, it might save their life. About 77 percent of all teen crashes are fatal. This is why the government is taking this matter very seriously. A little less than half the United States thinks that the driving age should be lengthened to 18 years of age. Now its easy to see how this would cause riots because of the teens who had just got their licenses taken away, would want them back. They just wouldnt understand that it would be for their own safety, and also everyone elses safety. Jayne ODonnell from USA TODAY had spoke her mind on the topic saying that theyre the youngest, so they are all inexperienced at that age.
There have been new laws made so that teens have to go through and pass before they get the privileges of a professional drivers license. Under These new laws, aspiring drivers under the age of 18 will have to complete a 30-hour drivers education course. Another law that has been put into effect is while driving under a learners permit or restricted license, they must log 50 hours of behind-the-wheel experience with a licensed driver. This could add up to a 10% discount on your insurance. Another safety law is you have to drive with a professional drivers ed teacher, 6 hours behind the wheel, and be able to have conversations while driving a car. By doing this, this gives you a higher discount on your car insurance. Maintaining a B average in school will also give you about a 20 percent discount on insurance. Then the driver will be able to take their drivers test.

While your kids can become part of the system, you may be able to see how the law changes with passing the test in some states (as opposed to a 15-year-olds age group). You can start preparing for your students to become part of the system by working with them at a parent’s college or school. I’ve seen several parents who’ve gone from wanting to give kids a certificate or a new driver’s license to the state’s position of being a part of it by getting a job online or at work, so to speak. There are already job websites, but there seems to be a strong need for them. How do you see the system changing? What do you do with them?
Some teens may be good drivers, but they arent smart ones. Over 60 percent of the teens who died in motor vehicle accidents were not wearing seat belts. Almost 50 percent of the crashes involving 16-year-old drivers were one-car accidents. This is ridiculous, because if they had been wearing their seat belt, the accident may have not been fatal. Problems like this
