It Proposal
Introduction
There is a new record store opening in Pearl, Mississippi. This store is going to specialize in nostalgic records that are gaining popularity again. At “One More Spin,” customers will be able to find hard to find vinyl records at affordable prices.
In order to celebrate the grand opening of the record store “One More Spin,” the owners must now upgrade everything but the records. This means that the owners need to be familiar with certain information systems and new technology. This proposal should familiarize the owners with the information systems that businesses need and the benefits and drawbacks of each system.
IS PROPOSAL 4
Transaction Processing System
The first thing that “One More Spin” will need is a way to handle transactions. This is the cash registers and credit card machines that will process the everyday business transactions. This is the transaction processing system (TPS). A good TPS will have the following features:
Performance- the system must be able process transactions quickly and accurately
Continuous Availability- the system must be available at all times
Data integrity- the system must be able to protect itself from hardware or software problems.
Ease of use- the system must be user-friendly. It must have a way to correct errors
Modular growth- the system must be easily upgraded without shutting the whole system
Since “One More Spin” is a small business, the TPS has many benefits. One benefit is that the store will be able to handle transactions on a global scale. The store may be located in a small city, but by having a good TPS in place, the store will be able to handle credit card transactions over the internet. Then all the owners have to do is ship the record to the customers.
IS PROPOSAL 5
Management Information Systems
Another good information system “One More Spin” needs to have is a management information system or MIS. A MIS is an information system that is geared toward the gathering of information on technology, the customers, and the data that are generated on a daily basis. This gives managers the data that is needed to make decisions.
Management information systems are very beneficial to businesses. Managers can keep track of stock and employee’s performance workers. They also give a clear picture of financial records. Having good customer databases can help the store to keep only records that will sell in stock.
