A while ago, smoking cigarettes were considered sexy, cool, and popular, an ok thing to do, a large amount of people smoked because of that. You would mostly always see people in movies with a cigarette in their hand; they were advertised a lot by sport man TV stars Hollywood stars etc. Now days the point view of the world towards cigarettes has changed a lot. Today it is considered an addictive drug that can kill you and that in most cases does; it harms others around you as well. You wont find them advertised as they used to; you also dont see anyone smoking in public places. Now most people dont like those who smoke, some think its a nasty addictive thing and usually they frown at them and give them looks mostly in crowded places.
According to listverse.com Cigarettes are the single-most traded item on the planet, with approximately 1 trillion being sold from country to country each year. At a global take of more than $400 billion, its one of the worlds largest industries. This means more health problems and possibly death. And it shouldnt be like this but sadly people dont realize how much one thing can take away years of their life which they could spend with their loved ones. The nicotine content in several major brands was reported on the rise. Harvard University and the Massachusetts Health Department revealed that between 1997 and 2005 the amount of nicotine in Camel, Newport, and Doral cigarettes may have increased by as much as 11 percent. Meaning that the cigarettes became more addictive to the person because of the increase, which also means that it will be harder for the common smoker to quit that easily its like a strategy so their business does not end. Thats the reason why people start smoking around one pack of cigarettes each day; which each pack typically containing 20 cigarettes. When consumed it gives the sense of being relaxed, non stressed, but when suddenly stopped they experience withdrawal symptoms, which may include cravings, a sense of emptiness, anxiety, depression, moodiness, irritability, and inattentiveness, according to an article published by the medical news today. The American Heart Association says that nicotine (from smoking tobacco) is one of the hardest substances to quit – at least as hard as heroin. Also according to medical news today in an article that was published “nicotine is a nitrogen-containing chemical – an alkaloid, which is made by several types of plants, including the tobacco plant.
