Currently California (255,010), Texas (198,650), and New York (171,880), are some of the states with the highest employment for nurses, while Montana (9640), Idaho (12140), and Wyoming (4910), are some states with the lowest employment nurses. California pays the most at $101,260 per year along with Hawaii ($90,130), Massachusetts ($88,650), Alaska ($88,516), and Oregon ($83,800). While North Dakota ($58,890), South Dakota ($55,100), Mississippi (56,890), Arkansas ($56,870), and Kansas ($57,410) pay the least (My Next Move).
Within the state of Maine, there were 14,210 people employed as nurses in 2014. The average salary is $67,350 per year. The highest percent earned in Maine earned 91,120, while the lowest percent earned $50,840. In Bangor Maine there were about 2130 people working as nurses and they usually earned about $67,350 per year. While in North East Maine there were about 1,640 people employed as nurses and they averaged to earn $60,290 per year (My Next Move).
