Technology is beneficial to human society, but it gets addicting, and people start to depend on it. In the novel Brave New World Huxley states that “the novel is not about the advancement of science as such, it is the advancement of science at it affects human individuals” (10). He believes world with excessive technology intrude the way individuals live and their social lives.

Technology conditions individuals to lead a prescribed life style. For example they teach them morals or behaviors while their asleep because “there was a whisper under every pillow. The D.H.C. halted and bending over one of the little beds, listening attentively” (40). This shows how even at their most vulnerable they tend to have control over them. They get into their heads to make them learn a certain statement to memorize for their lives. Another example is how they play erotic games, the nurse stated that they “had Elementary Sex for the first forty minutes” (43). This shows that the D.H.C. wants the individuals to not have self-consciousness. He doesnt want it because if they were to be conscious about themselves they would be shy and they will not be going around and “having” everyone for fun. In addition they try to keep the individuals from roses and books “small hands reached out uncertainly, touched, gasped, unpetaling the transfigured roses. The Head Nurse. Pressed down on the lever. The children started, screamed, their faces were distorted with terror” (33). They want to keep these certain things like roses and books away from them because the government wants them to consume and waste money. They dont want them to get information from books that are not needed and they intend to make the society hate nature due to the fact that it is for free.

Technology overcomes the identity of a persons life in a way that they are commercial people. For example the D.H.C. states that they “decant [their] babies as socialized human beings, as Alphas or Epsilons” (27). This shows that the in Brave New World you basically have your life story as soon as the sperm cell attacks the egg. The government wants to take control so there wouldnt be any thought of self-control toward the individual. Another example is there social class and how they tend to stick to their social strata “all wear green… Oh no I dont want to play with Delta children. And Epsilons are still worse, besides they wear black, which is a beastly color” (40). This shows how they teach all social classes to hate each other and feel superior. They dont want them to feel useless at any point because then it would teach them to feel sorrow and complaints. In addition they tend to lower their oxygen “the lower the cast… the lower the oxygen… the first organ affected was the brain [then] the skeleton [then] you got dwarfs” (28). This shows that the
