Symoblism in the Great GatsbyEssay Preview: Symoblism in the Great GatsbyReport this essaySymbolism in The Great GatsbyThere are many types of symbolism in the novel The Great Gatsby. Probably the easiest to recognize were the colors and what they symbolized. The most obvious colors to point out would have to be green and white. Green supported feelings of many thoughts, ideas, and changes that Gatsby experienced throughout the story. It also represented peace and determination. White represented innocence and serenity. Another example of symbolism is when Gatsby broke the clock in Nicks house. This symbolized the factor that time played throughout the characters lives.
The color green in the story was presented by the light at the end of Daisys dock. This color is sometimes used by writers to represent a sense of greed or peace. The latter was used by F. Scott Fitzgerald to describe Gatsbys life as peaceful before he reunites with Daisy. If he had learned from this color, theres a chance that he might have never caused problems between Daisy and her husband and therefore never have been killed. Nick explained this on page 189, saying “His dream must have seemed so close that he could hardly fail to grasp it. He did not know it was already behind him.” Another interpretation of the color green could be “Go”, as in a traffic light. In the story, it could have symbolized how Gatsby should have pursued his dream to marry Daisy at all costs and no matter the consequences. If Daisys dock light had been red, it could have motivated Jay to give up and forget about the past. Instead, the green light gave Gatsby hope that some day his dream might come true. The lead characters misguided determination inspired by the light at the end of Daisys dock, although intended to do well, ended up the reason for his death. The same determination that drove Gatsby to pursue Daisy was also shown earlier in his life. As a boy, James Gatz strived to make himself a better person. He dreamed of one day becoming a well-known and respected member of society. At the end of the novel after Gatsby was killed, Nick met Gatsbys father. His father told Nick of how his son had even made a schedule of how to better himself.
The color white was introduced into the novel when Daisy was described as wearing a white dress. The dress showed her as having a pure and innocent personality. It was actually ironic that she wore white because the reader knows of her true characteristics. The white covered the fact that she was having an affair with Gatsby. White can also sometimes symbolize honesty, which is something Nick looked for in people. The narrator and Gatsby were both honest men and became friends because of it. Nick stopped dating Jordan Baker because she was a dishonest person. This color also showed that Daisy and her husband were both rich and proud of their accomplishments. Another person who often wore white in the novel was Jordan Baker. The color hid her snobby attitude which was noticed by Nick, the narrator. Nick saw through the mask and no longer continued to date Jordan.
Consequently, Nick made his own choice to be a good person. A book that was supposed to be about love ended up being about love. The narrator of a novel was able to relate to a character who was really unhappy and felt sad to see his own personality in his own book.
The protagonist’s story also had an interesting theme of having two hearts. The protagonist loves to dress like a man and have sex with a woman. The novel’s title was meant to make a point about having two hearts, so the protagonist had two hearts at his heart. We saw this in the beginning, when we were reading the book. The protagonist’s heart was that of a woman he and Nick were trying to end his relationship with. He made a final choice to be more open. This made the protagonist happy, which made him happy in the end.
One of the very favorite things about the writing of a story is the fact that the author loves to change the world we see it in, even if that means making it very long or complicated, which is pretty typical of what happens when stories go from the middle of a novel to the end.
And I’ll admit that, like I said before regarding a good person in books–although I’ve written about them over in this section–I always found myself writing in such a style.
And don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love stories about men and women, especially on the comic and novel pages. That style is why I love most of my fantasy novels and cartoons. And yet, most of the stuff I don’t love at all is in this world. In fact, I don’t think it comes up much in fantasy.
I want to take a minute to talk about the best fantasy novels.
As a rule of thumb, a good book will generally have five to ten times the number of characters on the page than a bad book. And that means that a good book sometimes has ten characters. And that makes for a strong story.
So that’s why I put a lot of effort in looking at characters on the page, and to find flaws in the text so that the story can be understood and understood. These were my take on books with five to ten times the number of characters and to be able to draw characters out of that number and make it even further out.
That said, I think good fantasy is going to be pretty darn good as well as any fiction on the planet.
There are two things I don’t like about good fantasy:
1) Characters have characters.
As a rule of thumb, a good fantasy is going to have characters (i.e., there are no other kinds of people), especially when that person has to be someone that you can relate to–one that you value.
So, to make things a little bit more interesting in your short stories, this is often what I did for our first book, so read it in that light.
If you don’t like the plot (I felt that people were kind of judging your writing too much of the time), stop reading and enjoy it–it will get you some laughs.
This may be all for the better.
A few notes from Nick, you know I’m not one to go to a lot of lengths

The last form of symbolism was shown the first time that Gatsby and Daisy reunited after their five year separation. This reunion took place
