The Bible
The Bible
The Bible is a collection sacred scriptures of the Roman Catholic faith. The Bible contains books which have been written by people who have either been inspired by God, or have had interactions with God himself. The Bible contains a New Testament and Old Testament. The Old Testament contains Genesis which is the earliest book. The Old Testament also contains the Laws of Jesus which also came early. In the Old Testament, Moses received the Ten Commandments. It is to be believed now that Moses wrote the first five books of the Bible. The twelve Apostles also were capable of informing people of that God said. The New Testament is written by people who interacted with Jesus. The Bible is taken into consideration and is not to be taken literally. As time progresses, Catholics are able to understand the Bible more with growing knowledge which is a gift from God. One idea that isnt discussed in the bible is evolution. As our knowledge has progressed, scientists have found out that maybe we have evolved from one organism that existed way back in time. The Bible has never been changed, and will never be changed. Therefore, even thought some of our ideas and knowledge has changed as we grow, the Bible has always remained the same.

The Bible is really important in the Roman Catholic church. The Bible was written by people who have interacted with God or have been inspired by God. It contains many important life lessons. The Bible contains important information like the Ten Commandments and the Seven Sacraments. The Bible gives enlightenment. The Bible contains Gods revelation in the collection of books. According to Groome, “the Spirit has guided Christians to reflect on their historical experience in the light of faith and thus to develop their understanding of Gods revelation in the Bible” (Groome 147). Biblical revelation is growing each day with the knowledge of people today and the growing ideas of cultures. “The Bible is the inspired Word of God and the book of the Church” (Schreck 53). It is the words and written tradition that were handed down within the Church. Each writing in the Bible was recognized by the Churchs bishops to be inspired by the Holy Spirit and to have accurate authority within the Church (Schreck 53).

A portion of the Bible is always read at Mass. The Bible is not read like any other book. In fact, it is considered a sacred text, not a book. “Interpreting every aspect of the Christian Tradition calls for great care- appreciation, questioning, and creativity” (Groome 148). “Scripture and Tradition are the work of God in human language” (Groome 149). The second part of this phrase tells us that the scriptures and traditions reflect the world and time in which they had emerged (Groome 149). We view reading the Bible as a great conversation among the Catholic faith and community
