On the contrary, taking advantage of the latest inventions, we socialize constantly, even when we are sitting at home with a mobile in hand and inviting our friends for a birthday party via sms.

Our study of our society and its recent history has been largely inspired by our own personal experiences — from our experiences in a small town and the changing digital economy, to our experiences working to rebuild our lives after the Great Recession. From these personal experiences we learn about many of today’s technology trends which have the potential to change our lives — including more access to technology, improved communication and more personal relationships (like online communities), new technologies, and more online and offline space. This article is part of a two-part feature on technology as a source of change, as well as discussing what is changing across the social universe.
In my opinion and the understanding of many of the things described above, there is a growing consensus that technology will be the new norm for most people: not only will people be able to communicate more quickly between online and offline space, in areas such as social media, but they will also expect to see the full potential of technological enhancements at their fingertips. This paper is intended to raise awareness of such opportunities and to discuss their impact on individuals, the social economy of the world, and the evolution of our social world. This is our intention to use our empirical research data to help us shape how we think and behave around technology and new ways to live (or, better, not live) by helping people to see in their own lives and interactions that technology changes these relationships.
This article looks at some basic trends in the social economy of the world around us. First of all, the recent changes in our lives and societies has created greater opportunities for those who are connected to social media and mobile phones. The new information platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and WhatsApp are giving rise to the “information economy” created by social media, making it possible for people to communicate and interact within the wider network (whether they think computer or computer-based, social or social-based). To understand how the new information platforms are changing the lives of the millions of people who are connected to and using their mobile devices and networks, we think it will be useful to delve more deeply into how these social services are improving their services in the coming years. With these observations, the study of social interactions and the evolution of our society in general, can begin to offer a coherent approach to understanding the changing social environment around you. At the same time we will also highlight in further detail what are we seeing and experiencing at our local or national level. Finally, we hope to give more visibility to the important developments that our social networking sites and instant messaging networks are trying to put to use around the world.

Indeed, the nature of socializing has undergone a revolutionary transformation. In large part, technological progress is to blame for this. Regardless of age, people are meeting in online chat rooms, taking parts in online discussions, sending e-mails or chain texting on mobile phones. Obviously, electronic devices are to help us exchange our views or share information, not to handicap these processes. Even more, they enable us to maintain contact with people who live far away.
The suspicion that because of technology we fail to communicate in real life is groundless. Texting, chatting or e-mailing, when reasonably used, are tools of organizing face to face meetings rather than replacing them, since it is common knowledge that talking via the Internet or the mobile will never equal a conversation with a friend in a pub.
Interacting with other people in real life is inherent in human nature and only real meetings cement relationships. That is why we still socialize in traditional ways. Together with friends and acquaintances we go to the cinema, theatre, restaurant or cafй, we mingle and mix at parties. While talking with others, we observe their facial expressions, gestures, listen to the tones of their voices. According to many psychologists, these factors are also crucial when creating real bonds between people.
