When deciding on a career, a college education is a must. It is a development path for a career that someone chooses to pursue. As such, colleges usually offer two ways to pursue a degree: a traditional on campus experience and an online degree program. An on-campus college program may have many factors, including, the location of the campus, the quality of education, and even the social activity on campus. For those who prefer at-home study, most colleges offer online-degree programs that provide a more independent study and an adaptable pace for the student. Both programs have their advantages and disadvantages based on the type of student audience the program is for.The on-campus experience is the first option colleges usually offer. This program follows the traditional professor lecturing anywhere between a handful of students to over a full-sized auditorium. There are many advantages to this type of program including the fact that most questions and concerns pertaining to the class can be answered immediately. Also, colleagues in the same class can usually help each other out with the material on the course. The main disadvantage pertaining to on campus programs is that in some cases, the professors pace might not be as the same as some students in the class. This can cause for some students to miss important details in the lecture as well as falling behind in the class. This program is suited for students who like the face to face lectures and flow of an interactive learning experience.Online degree programs offer a different approach at getting your degree. This program is unique in the sense that the classes can be done anywhere with a computer available. The courses are all offered online and require less visits to the university. This is a big advantage to students who cannot attend the campus because of schedule conflicts and allows students to work at their own pace to an extent. One of the weighing disadvantages that online degrees have is that there isn’t as much social interaction with both the professor and the peers in the class. Also, the responsibility is much greater for online classes, since professors can only tell if you’re participating in the class by logging on and submitting assignments on time. This program is mostly suited for students who prefer the comfort of their own home or have difficulties making it to campus.
