Guide for Students
By the end of this week you will have officially been here for a whole month!! I hope you are
enjoying your job, co-workers and interacting with the other ACOE students.
Before our first student meeting (which will be scheduled soon!) I wanted to send out a few
reminders on good office etiquette and some guidelines we are asking the supervisor to help
implement.
When you are away from your desk , please use good judgement in notifying your supervisor if
gone for more than 5 minutes. Ensure they know when you are taking a break , lunch or will be
away to attend a meeting .
When at your desk, be sure to focus on work and remove distractions . Refrain from using your
phone for personal calls during the day and do not surf the web or log into facebook . Please
also be respectful of others work-schedule and their co -workers and do not spend time
socializing at each others desks . If you want to chat with another student please plan to talk on
a break or over lunch .
If you will be working over 6 hours, breaks are mandatory which should be taken as 15 min in
the a.m and p.m. (time not to be combined into a 30 min break)
Your time starts when you are at your desk and ready to work . If you come in to drop off your
stuff then run for food or coffee you need to wait to start your work schedule until AFTER you
have returned to your desk
