What makes me so determined to pursue the position in British Embassy Beijing is, without any doubt, my fascination with English. This fascination includes receiving training courses for years, spending lots of time and money on original English books, movies and music and feeling the intense pleasure every time when I am speaking in English.
This is not just a blind passion. As an English lover with economic background, I have got a chance to approach English in different way. I attended almost every professional course instructed in English with originally published text books at my university: theory of financial market, comparison of different financial systems, financial regulation and freedom, the game theory and the advanced theory of international trade. Courses like these did not simply give me A grades on the transcript. They made me realize that I am both comfortable and capable of approaching English with economic language. However, the deeper I dig into my professional field with help of English, the more profound I understand English way of thinking and its culture. Naturally, working as trade and investment officer in British Embassy Beijing office is what I found the perfect combination of my personal interest, my professional background and my career goal.
Besides my outstanding academic record, I believe there are at least 2 things which make me highly competent and motivated for the position. Now, let me elaborate on both of them.
1. My experience in academic research project intensifies my ability of information searching, processing and data analyzing. In the project “ WTO rules, trade barriers and strategy for further development of trade enterprises in Anhui province”, my duty was to analyze and reprocess the first hand of information and data our project team got through linear regression method in order to give a comprehensive analysis of main advantages and restraints in foreign trade sector.
