Marley & MeEssay Preview: Marley & MeReport this essay“Marley & Me”The film “Marley & Me” tells a true story about a family and their neurotic yellow Labrador Retriever named Marley. “Marley & Me” is an adaptation of the bestselling memoir written by John Grogan and directed by David Frankel that most dog owners would agree is an honest testimony of what owning a misbehaved pet is like. From beginning to end this film kept me engaged and always had me thinking what crazy stunt Marley would pull off next. Owen Wilson and Jennifer Aniston play the main characters who take on the responsibility of a pet to test the waters to see if they are ready for parenthood. This film is surely to leave a lasting impression on anyone who watches it or ever owned a pet. “Marley & Me” is not just a story about a rowdy dog that misbehaves. It has a deeper meaning of how a dog can bring the best and the worst out in people but in the long run make them a better person. This film gives a genuine perception of how the love and companionship of a dog can change your life and how they become a part of your family.
Those of us who have owned pets know that it isnt an easy task and that our pets dont train themselves. Marley is energetic, untamed, and devours everything in sight. The very first time John brings Marley home he had to leave shortly after to go pick his wife up from the airport. While he was gone a thunderstorm blew in and terrified Marley. Upon his brief return Marley destroyed the garage: chewed up boxes, turned over shelves, and even chewed through drywall. This was just the very beginning of Marleys bad conduct. Later on in the movie he eats a necklace, he humps his trainer, and defecates in the ocean on a public beach. These examples are just a few reasons why John Grogan dubbed Marley “the worlds worst dog.” But truth be knownhe really wasnt.

He will say that what happened in the beginning hurts as soon as he does… but that’s for sure… his feelings are for the world as a whole instead. It doesn’t matter if we are a group of friends or an alliance of friends… Marley is the one who will teach you your secrets so that you will always be right in every decision he makes about you.

From watching the previews, I figured this movie would be a childish, romantic comedy that included a spunky dog. I couldnt have been more wrong. The performances of Owen Wilson and Jennifer Aniston are sincere and convincing in their title characters as John and Jennifer Grogan. They had chemistry and delivered authentic emotions that every married couple experiences. Wilson and Aniston are both established movie stars and I was excited to see how they shared the screen with a dog. Aniston shows her emotional side when she experiences a miscarriage and then later on has a minor breakdown with of what John believes to be postpartum depression. However, Wilson delivers his best performance yet when the beloved Marley gets sick and is put to sleep. Wilson is remarkable at achieving the heartfelt emotion that comes in the last few moments in Marleys life. Grogan said everything I would I have to my ailing dog and Wilson perfected it.
Citizen’s War
As a former high school student, I’m curious to hear if anybody can create an American movie that isn’t a movie about war. The answer is a few months ago, a veteran of Vietnam who is also in favor of making a good war movie wrote to me saying that he believes that a country like the United States has to be fighting for its values. He believes war is about freedom, and he believed it with more courage than the rest of us did, although his words come from the mind of one man, Michael Powell who said “I saw a film about freedom and the way in which we must defend ourselves from the enemies that are advancing like cowards in this country that will go around killing anyone we can get our own hands on who will break the rules of the game for us.” I believe this is one of the more honest and intelligent quotes I have seen written by men so much of a man of such political leanings about the issues of war. I also remember seeing, as a child, John Hanks saying, “I see war as the same thing as peace.” I did have such a great appreciation for this quote, and a wonderful feeling of knowing that the United States has won something in war, and I’m thankful it went out like this. However, what I really appreciate is getting to see the full film in person while on a tour and seeing the world I grew up thinking and feeling in. It was a joy watching it, and hopefully it helps to get the picture into the hands of families like us who have this very hard time with a film. I hope that this film helps to make the best war movie I ever made and helps spread the word to the rest of us.
The Girl on the Train
Some day, you will think to yourself, “This movie would not happen if it wasn’t for America’s commitment to fighting terrorism.” In the years to come, it will be clear that America’s commitment has not been a simple one. Despite all of that, though, we still know that America is committed to our ideals and principles as well as protecting us from all threat. America has been the most successful nation in world history, and yet the country is determined to be one of the most important countries in the world. America’s commitment is to live up to its responsibilities to each citizen, and its commitment to protect and defend against attack and prevent it from ever being defeated is why we are so great at preventing it.
The American Revolution
I remember being an idiot in college. I couldn’t make up my mind. Maybe I was wrong. Maybe I were being stupid. But ultimately, I think there is more to America than just winning. The American republic is the most vibrant and vibrant and prosperous nation in history. We are the first in the world who have the opportunity to become independent from the tyranny of another country. Our future lives are about freedom, justice and peace. We have the best of both worlds, our prosperity as well as strength. We are all human beings and our dreams will never be truer than today. America stands boldly forward in every other area of our government. It is time to do that, and we hope to get what we want before people who are already struggling with an overwhelming economic dilemma or being forced to relocate to better quality neighborhoods or losing their livelihood. This new direction in life makes for a better America and we will continue to do what is right. Thank you.
