Each person has their own opinion, their own way of thinking, understanding, and beliefs. Heraclitus uses logos to show how each person has their own views of what they experience even though they don’t recognize what they encounter when it happens. Logos give people the opportunity to infinite perceptions of any given thing because they are unique and different souls even though they have many things in common. There are trillions of people that touched this earth, but still not one correct answer to what happens to you (soul) when you die. Heraclitus tries to explain people how there are infinite possibilities when you use logos to share perceptions, to gain a deeper understanding through different views and ideas. Logos and perception is a structure or law that allows views and opinions to be expressed, but there is no one correct perception; all are common but still have unique individual perceptions.

Heraclitus shows that people should be open to new ideas because most things in life can be interrupted different ways and no one knows which way is right one. Just because it’s your opinion doesn’t mean it’s the right. In fragment 17, Heraclitus says “Many people do not ‘understand the sorts of thing they encounter’! Nor do they recognize them after they have had experience though they themselves think .” A way to relate to this is think of a time you were asked “What should I wear to the interview?” by a friend and you gave your best opinion but how do you know which was better the outfit the blue or green one. You do not know which is better but you know what is better in your opinion that’s what logos allows you to do, share feelings and views. Each person is unique in their own style, so your own perception or taste isn’t always right is what Heraclitus is stating. In my opinion I feel Heraclitus is trying to say we are all different and have our own opinions so respect others views as they respect yours. Like views of the logo God, people have different beliefs on who is God. God to someone might be Jesus Christ, or St. Mary, or Buddha. My interpretation of the message of Heraclitus’ fragment is that whatever situation or decision we are faced we should be in sync with our soul and recognize alternatives when making important decisions and have belief in your own perception as well as others.

If you hope or believe in something, only then it can turn out to be good or bad but if don’t expect anything then you can’t be disappointed. In fragment 27, Heraclitus is relating your own opinions and views on death. Fragment 27 states, “What awaits men at death they do not expect nor imagine.” In other words, Heraclitus is saying that death can be good or bad depends on what you expect death to be.
