You Dont Know Me
You may see me sitting in class, usually towards the back because I tend to be a little late, and you may wonder what Im all about. You want to know something about me, something not noticeable on the surface and something interesting. I know this may come as quite a shock, but I like to write and record my own raps. Rapping makes me feel relaxed, entertained and at ease. I started doing it around junior year in high school, and they started out as just various forms of poetry. It just started out randomly, where I would sit at my computer and just started writing as the words came to me. I found some instrumental versions beats and some wordless versions of popular songs, and I would put my words to music. This was a new experience for me because at first I was just expressing myself and my opinions, but after I shared them with family and friends, they were very supportive and astounded.
Ive written 6 raps so far, each with a different theme and expressing my personal opinion about some controversial topic. Ive written “Terrorization of a Nation”, which expresses how I feel about the Iraq War, “I <3 Celebrities", which is about the absurd and unnecessary attention put on celebrities in our lives, "Words Not Found in Polite Conversation", about the negativity and lack of compassion for homeless people, "Mass Murder by the Media", which exploits how the news only shows negative, fear-invoking stories to the public, (PLEASE EXCUSE MY FRENCH) "What a Fucked Up World", where I discuss whats wrong with various problems in the world, and "The Famous and Fortunate Part 1", which is rap directed at about 30-40 specific celebrities where I either ridicule them, mock them or showcase their stupidity. For each rap Ive created, Ive also made a picture to go along with the song, which I call "CD Art". For "The Famous and Fortunate Part 1", I made a power-point presentation which acts as a Ðmusic video to go along with the song. Creating and writing raps is something that runs in my family. I am the youngest of 4 brothers, and 3 out of the 4 of us rap. My eldest brother writes his own raps, sometimes even in Spanish, and made his own CD with 3 other rappers he met in the Marine Corps. My second oldest brother writes his own raps as well, and has a binder filled up with random raps and freestyles hes written. At one point, the three of us (who rap) were at a college party and they had music playing in the background. It was an instrumental beat, which is a song without words, and they had it "cranked up". Then we all made our way over towards the music, all from various points in the room, and met at the record player. We
