Study smart not study hard. I always heard this statement since I was in primary school. But I end up studying hard, hardly pushing myself. Many student did their best in studying, unfortunately most of them still did not get flying colors in their examinations. Why does this happen? Currently because they did not know how to study smart. Actually everyone has their own type of learner. Once you recognize what type of learner you are, you can practice on how to study smart. There are five types of learner exist which are visual, kinesthetic, aural, read/write and multimodal. Each of them have their specific skills and methods to study. To determine what kind of learner you are, you can answer some questions on vark-learner website. After reading the VARK website, I understand that I am an aural learner and to be successful I need to employ specific study skills. Aural learner is a person who is use their sense of hearing more than other sense.
As an aural learner, I need to take in the information by myself. I have to full fill the attendance throughout the year. I attended the classes held by my school every weekend and during the school break, I attended extra classes although my parents need to pay about RM500 per month. Then I also attend discussion and tutorials with my friends. After finish one topic I will have some deeper discussion with my classmates and teachers. As I taking foundation at UITM, every night before sleep we will gather together and discuss about the current issues in government system, education and social life which are full of knowledgeable. I used to remember things when I listen or talk. So, I prefer to explain new ideas to other people around me. Usually I remember the interesting stories and jokes created around by others and transfer what I had heard to somebody who was not there by describing the overheads, pictures, and other visuals. Being an aural learner, I need to take in information directly from the resources.
On top of that, the best learn is I need to convert my notes into a learnable package. As my notes may be poor as I prefer to listen, I need to expand my notes by talking with others. So I choose to explain my notes to other aural learner. I will find a few aural learner in my class and talk to them. I ask them to hear my understanding of a topic. With that we can exchange our ideas and form a study group. Moreover, I should update notes from the textbook as my note is simply simple. I leave spaces in my note for later recall and filling during revision. Because Im using hearing a lot, I am more sensitive to sound. So, I use this method which is put my summarised notes into tapes and listen to them. I will replay it several times and save the recorder in a specific thumb drive. Other than that, I use my own voice, I read my summarised notes aloud but as long not disturbing others. In this case, I should make a perceptible, beneficial, and creative note.
Lastly,
