Me vs. My Mom
Some kids could think that they and their parents are more similar than different, because they have many things in common. Some kids also think their differences will not have much of an effect on their lives, especially when they are young. Because they realized that when they get older, they started doing what their parents were doing, and saying the same thing to their kids what their parents told them when they were young. Neither one of these statements are true. Children see things parents would like to think are hidden. However, from my experience, they also realize things that are going on which adults think they are not able to understand. My mom and I are as opposite as we come.
I have always looked up to my mom from as far back as I can remember. She has always been there for me through everything possible. She has formed me into the person I am today. She told me that she used to be this girl who wanted peoples attention, selfish and didnt care about anybodys opinion. But it suddenly changed the night I was born.
It started on November 30, 1993 between the hours of 10:00pm to midnight. My mom had been in labor with me for the past couple of hours. She had been up all day and was exhausted by the hard work she was dealing with. She had no idea the worst was yet to come. Getting closer to the end of her labor, as her contractions worsened, she felt the pain would be over soon and that she would be holding a new baby in her arms. As each contraction came, the nurses noticed that my heartbeat would drop severely by each one. As my mother described, as soon as this happened, a pack of nurses came bursting into the delivery room. After such an entrance, the nurses had the nerve to tell my mother not to panic. The nurses soon learned that the umbilical cord was wrapped tightly around my neck two times. Each time my mother had a contraction, the cord would tighten, and I was losing oxygen that was to be getting to my brain. The nurses also learned that I was in my mother at a sideways angle and there was no way I could be delivered properly because of the awkward angle and the choking of the umbilical cord. I could not be delivered naturally. Then the doctor went in and told my mom that she needed a cesarean section. On the way to the ER, the nurse gave my mom a form to sign. It basically said if anything went wrong during the surgery they could save only my mom or me, one or the other. My mom circled me without even thinking a bit. Fortunately, everything went well. My mom and I both were safe and healthy. But she said her life has been changed since that night.
My mom has made major improvements in herself since I was born. It is almost like watching me grow made her grow, too. Because of my moms hard lifestyle, and the way she was abused by my grandparents, she had a great deal of built up anger. She was always on edge and the littlest things
