As people know, many foods are good for our health, such as beans, vegetables, fruits, milk, red wine, eggs, ginger, garlic, and fish. However, there some debates about food health turn up with the studies of food, some foods are not completely healthy for human beings any more– like garlic, red wine, and green tea. These food or drink would also bring damages to peoples body (such as some substances in garlic can make peoples illness get worse) while bring benefits.

Garlic plays an important role in our diet life. People always like to put some garlic in dishes or eat it directly some times. Amounts of people think garlic is always good for health–it can keep us away from getting cold, prevent cancer, promote hair growth, and enhance immune function (Anonymous, n.d.). Moreover, “Many experts recommend eating at least one fresh clove a day; whether smashed into a paste, lightly roasted, or sautéed with your favorite healthy foods, youre getting garlicky goodness in its most natural form”. (Huber, 2010) In this way, garlic seems helpful for peoples health and we should often eat garlic.

Nevertheless, since many diseases appear which are caused by food nowadays, such as Salmonellosis, Campylobacteriosis, and Cholera etc. Many foods are not always good any more. People start to consider that “Is garlic safe to eat?” It is seemed “likely safe” by most people when eat it. Nevertheless, it can make our breath smell bad and make people feel burning in both mouth and stomach. It can cause gas, body odor, feel sick, heartburn, and so on, which are often worse with raw garlic. Garlic is also bad for bleeding, which has been proved by examples that people who were bleeding after surgery because they ate garlic before accepting surgery (Anonymous, 2010). In addition, the patients of liver disease, non-bacterial diarrhea, and eye ailment are inedibility of eating garlic because eating garlic can make their symptoms worse. The reason of people who are facing these kinds of problems cannot eat garlic because garlic has blood thinning which can increase the risk of abnormal bleeding (Moore, 2010). Garlic undoubtedly has many benefits, but with so many risks existing, we need to eat it carefully.

For many people, red wine is an indispensable drink. Red wine plays a significant role in history. It had a quite strong religious and political symbolism in BC 3,000 years ago. It is not only developing into the wine industry, it also became a kind of culture–wine tasting is seemed as an art now. It is related with romance and taste life–when people go out for dinner in a restaurant, they always order red wine; they drink red wine during parties; and sometimes drink alone just for enjoying. Is red wine good or bad for our health? Since many studies have been done, there are many evidences can prove that moderate amount of red wine can lower the heart attack risk for middle age people. Also, “Studies showed that people from the Mediterranean region who regularly drank red wine have lower risks of heart disease.” (Tsang, 2005) Since red wine has so many benefits, should the people who love drinking red wine drink red wine too much?

On the other hand, every thing has dual characters–red wine is not as good as we think. Red wine is alcohol and alcohol is not always good for health. Drunks always have many illnesses because of too much alcohol. Drink too much can also influence peoples normal life, which means drink too much alcohol can cause many troubles to both drinkers life and people who are around. Drunken delaying–if people have things to do after drinking, they always be effected by drunk to mass things up or delay. From above, we can see that although red wine is good for our health in some ways, we still cannot drink too much. Red wine is known to be strong, but the taste and weight of each bottle is usually around 130g and there is no way of making the size of them easy to determine.
