Specific purpose- I would like the audience to have a basic understand of what a saint is.
1. Introduction
A. Attention Getter: Did you know there are more than 10,000 named saints and beati? They are all different ages and come from all walks of life.
B. Relevance: Some of you might find that by learning what a Saint is, you can use them in your life to help you out. Or at least just understand the life they lived.
C. Credibility: I have been baptized a Catholic and have fallen away until college, when I picked things back up. At the Catholic Student Center, us students find fun in learning about the lives of saints and how their intercession can help us.
D. Central Idea: Saints have a history that needs to be revealed.
E. Initial Preview: To understand the big picture about patron Saints, we must understand what a Saint is, how one becomes a Saint and take a brief look into the life of St. Joseph of Cupertino.
Transition: To understand anything we need a basis or what a Patron saint is.

A. What is a Patron Saint?
1.” Patron saints are chosen as special protectors or guardians over areas of life (Patron saints, 2011) They pray for specific things like causes, churches, countries, illnesses and occupations. Basically anything that is important to the people. Like St. Sebastian is the patron saint of athletes and St. Teresa of Avila is the patron saint of headaches.
2. A saint is a sinner. – a sinner is you and me. Its anything you do that goes against you or your religions moral rule. An example would
