How the Oppressed gained power
Many people have different views on how the oppressed gained power in the US, either using the peaceful or nonviolent methods of protesting. Both ways could be effective, but the way to achieve a goal would be by having a peaceful protest, reasons why a peaceful protest could be so successful is because you have the opportunity of organizing a group in a more organized way, taking protest into Direct and Indirect Action is successful because it is possible to do both in a peaceful way, and finally boycott protests will be final point for the oppressed to gain power in the United States.

A peaceful protest begins when a group of people that have the same mentality, while knowing that staying peaceful will be successful in the end. Going out with an organized crowd will give success for those fighting for their cause. What you need for a successful protest is people, speaking like MLK did (Holt Street Speech), and organizing people will keep adding people to the cause. Once a crowd is formed, you can start taking action.

Taking Direct action is perfect for having a peaceful protest because one does not need violence by taking direct action, just by knowing what movements to do in a protest and keeping it peaceful will more than likely give you success, examples for that would be when you do the complete opposite of what the government wants. Fight with them peacefully, go to war against them that will give you support from who ever is not against them.

When you take control indirectly of a protest, you are by all means doing it peacefully and gaining attention of many people. Evolution is the key part of protesting, history may be the most important thing but what you have to know is that things change overtime just like protesting does. Yes violent protests were successful in the past but people need to understand is that things evolve, things will be different in the future such as protesting. Just like the egyptian revolution that was all started in an indirect action with a social media page that was not hurting anyone in a violent way and we all saw how much successful it has been.

Using boycotting in your protest will also be a main point in your protests. Boycotting is when you refuse to help business or people you are against in the protest. You can do all this in a peaceful manner. Figuring out stock market prices and knowing away to take your opposing side down would give an advantage to the people protesting. This progress has to do with the advantages we have now then what we had back then, technology changes to the point that you can start off a Countrys revolution in just one social media page. There is a fine line between civil disobedience and domestic terrorism, which is the use of violence against people or property. Some famous protests that have worked include the protests that Gandhi was in charge of in India and the Montgomery bus boycott acts (Freedom Writers.) Boycotts have been one of the best and most effective ways of peaceful protests. During the American revolution, boycotts were used, and they were effective of getting rid of the stamp act and others. Mahatma Gandhi organized peaceful protest such as marches, sit ins and boycotts many of which he lead himself putting himself in imminent danger.
