The Rules of soccer are not too complicated. There are eleven players on each side of the ball with each side having one goalie that defends the goal. The Goalie is the only player that is allowed to touch the ball with their hands, but only inside the 18 yard goalie box. The fields can vary in size but are normally about 110 yards by about 70 yards. The positions of soccer are broken down into Strikers or Forwards, Midfielders, Defense, and Goalie. Forwards and sometimes midfielders are responsible for putting the ball in the back of the net. They are the main goal scorers and can be game changers most of the time. Midfielders are the most important players and most athletic players on the field. They are the set up men, the scorers, and the defense. They are responsible for more than anyone on the field because they must stretch the field and set the forward up for goals, and then run back to get back on defense. Defenders are the last line between the goalie and the opposing teams forwards. They are normally the most aggressive players on the field because they cannot give up one on ones with the goalie. These players play two 45 minute halves with no timeouts except for half time. Each goal is worth 1 point and the team with the most goals at the end of the match wins. If there is a tie at the end of regulation, overtime occurs consisting of two 15 minute halves with Penalty Kicks if there is a tie at the end of the OT halves.
