Gabriella Case
Gabriella commenced her employment the next week. Five weeks went by during which time the cafĂ© ran smoothly. During this period Gabriella had become very popular with both male and female customers. Many of the customers had commented on her excellent English speaking skills. Several of the female customers had even commented on Gabriellaâs beautiful golden crucifix necklace. Gabriella had told those customers that her mother had given her the crucifix as a confirmation present.
Over the last three weeks Angelo has asked Gabriella out on a date on three separate occasions. Gabriella had refused each time. On the third occasion Gabriella told Angelo that she was not interested and that if he continued to persist, then she would have to report his behavior.
The following Saturday, Angelo complained to Gordon about Gabriella. Angelo claimed that the customers could not understand Gabriellaâs âstupid French accentâ. He also stated (falsely) that he had seen Gabriella steal money from the cash register on two occasions. Angelo said to Gordon, âWhy donât you and I teach that âstupid frogâ a lesson.â Gordon replied âOK letâs shake her up a bit.â
The next day Gordon confronted Gabriella in the middle of the busy restaurant and said: âAngelo and I took a gamble on you because you were sexy, but it turns out you are a âreligious nut and a eurotrash thief.â Most of the staff and nearly all of the customers heard Gordonâs outburst.
Gordon then left the Broadbeach outlet winking to Angelo as he left. Moments later Angelo gestured for Gabriella to go to his office. As she entered the office Angelo closed the door behind her and said: âGabriella you are two things
