My Personal Educational Philosophy in Teaching
MY PERSONAL EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY IN TEACHING
Through my experiences as a Secondary High School Teacher for the past 9 years, I have developed a personal teaching philosophy which I consider – a hybrid of Constructivist and Essentialist educational nature.
In my class, I aim that my students would be able to experience “freedom” that will lead them to a more meaningful realization and learning. They should experiment and discover things that interest them and which do not. More importantly, I want them to not just understand but in a deeper sense, accept both their strengths and weaknesses. From there, as their teacher who is the lone facilitator who will guide them by preparing varied lessons and plans accordingly to meet their needs.
I understand that each of my students has his own knowledge. That he at least has the basics of what he knows and what things exist that are essential in living. One of my goals is to disseminate supportive but preventive learning strategies yet not corrective. I desire to attain this by providing my students engaging learning activities that are non-discriminatory. I believe in the idea that each student has his own learning ability and capability (multiple intelligences). It is therefore imperative to provide them varied activities that will cater all kinds of learners and not let anyone be left behind.
As a teacher, I value direct and clear instruction that gives my students bigger room
